Caring for authentic wood flooring is a simple and rewarding routine that preserves its natural splendour for generations. For day-to-day maintenance, sweeping with a soft-bristle broom or vacuuming using a dedicated soft-brush attachment is ideal for lifting light dust. It is essential to avoid rigid plastic nozzles or abrasive tools, as direct friction from hard surfaces can create micro-scratches and dull the fine veneer over time.

Because natural timber reacts to excess moisture, quick attention to liquids is key. Spills should be blotted away immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth to prevent fluid from penetrating the grain. For light routine cleaning, a well-wrung, slightly damp mop is all that is required – the mop head should be merely cool to the touch rather than wet, ensuring the surface is cleaned without saturating the timber beneath.

To safeguard your floor’s beauty over the long term, fitting high-quality felt protector pads beneath furniture legs will prevent scuffs and pressure marks when items are moved. Periodic care is best handled using a microfibre mop paired with a professional, pH-neutral wood floor cleaner. Above all, never use harsh household chemicals, abrasive scouring pads, or bleach, as these will cause irreversible damage to the natural wood and compromise its protective finish. Deep Clean and Polishing

A deep, thorough cleaning is recommended every 3 or 4 months. By that, it is no longer just about wiping off any surface dirt or stain on the floors, but to create a plan about giving the flooring a proper polish to rejuvenate the natural shine of the wood, with consideration to add needed protection for its service for the next circle. Hardwax Coating

The frequency with which you reapply hard wax oil to your wooden flooring varies, as it depends on the amount of traffic the room receives and few other factors such as room temperature and moisture content. We highly recommend creating a maintenance schedule with your fitter after knowing the details of your property and your intended usage. For reference, the common cycle is between 12 to 24 months in most domestic environments.
